Wellington Railway Station

Octa provided comprehensive project management services to integrate the design and construction to successfully deliver this project.

The fit-out of approximately 6,500 sqm on five floors of the West Wing of the Wellington Railway Station building involved demolition of internal partitions and structural strengthening.   It was staged according to VUW and other tenancies, and resource and building consents followed that process.  At the same time, the entire building was considered in terms of heritage assessment, structural analysis, fire design and services.

New lift access was installed from Ground to 5th floor and fire and accessibility upgrades were carried out on each of the levels.    The development included 20 seminar rooms with audio visual capability, library and study spaces as well as offices.

The fit-out needed to be integrated into a Category 1 Historic Building.  The area was partially air conditioned with all services exposed to provide a greater floor to ceiling height—as well as display the original decorative plaster ceilings in the historic areas of the building.
