Octa was engaged to project manage the completion of this project which comprised of a six-floor annexe on the Featherston Street side of the current building, providing modern, fit-for-purpose teaching spaces. Plus extensions to the north and south podium levels which provide further office and library space. Refurbished circulation spaces on the ground and mezzanine floors create a student Hub that better connects the Business School with the Law School’s current location across the street in Old Government Building.
The total floor area over the six floors and including the south-east extension is 4,000 square metres.
Identification of asbestos within the existing tower has resulted in a sub-project to remediate existing floors. This sub-project has an anticipated budget of $36m and scheduled to be undertaken over the next five years. Upon completion all that will remain of the existing tower is the concrete structure.
