Air New Zealand Lounges

Air New Zealand

$47M

Through extensive Customer Research and Business Analysis, Air New Zealand identified that they required a flexible, generic, design across all lounge tiers and locations.

Octa has been involved from inception of the programme of works to redefine the Air New Zealand Lounges throughout Australasia, taking the lead to ensure achievement of the Client’s aspirations to create world leading lounges. Octa has project managed all facets of the redevelopment of the lounges in the lead up to major refurbishments. This included consent submission, procurement of contractor and construction management.

Octa initiated the project with expressions of interest from a number of international architects. Once the preferred architect (Gensler L.A) had been selected, a design was developed which reflected the Air New Zealand spirit whilst maintaining special elements in each that would surprise and delight customers every time they travel with the airline.

Local architects were appointed to each project, through Gensler, to interpret local practice and obtain consents. The construction methodology for each lounge was developed by Octa to deal with the  unique circumstances at each location, particularly where temporary lounges were required, and the permanent works were to be carried out “airside.”

These projects were all complex and time critical. The terminals remained operational and safety of personnel, passengers was a key priority. Daily liaison with the Air New Zealand and the airport companies were vital, ensuring all parties were well informed to enable co-ordination of activities such as material delivery with the airport airline schedules.
