Octa has been engaged by CRT as Engineer to the Contract (EttC) and full Client-side Project Manager to deliver the redevelopment of one of their rest home facilities located on Vogel Street in Cambridge, Waikato. The full re-development is expected to cost circa $50M with stage 1 coming in at $18M.
The project objective is to provide the elderly with an independent living environment along with support and a community around them. Also, to meet the growth of Resthaven by upgrading existing care facilities, replacing 28 care beds and eight apartments with new 73 apartment-style development. The development consists of 4 stages with the first stage to be constructed being the Hanlon block (building C), which has a total of 25 new apartments ranging from Studios to 2 bedrooms (Penthouse). Construction of Block C, which will be 4 levels and will include a kitchen, function room, communal areas, lifts, and other services.
The first stage will also include the completion of the upstairs interior of an existing building attached to Block C with a fit-out of 5 studio units and 3 apartments in this area, and the Shop A shell only which is where the main distribution board will be located.
At the completion of stage 1, due November 2023, stages 2, 3 & 4 will follow sequentially.
