Freemans Bay School, located at 95 Wellington Street, Freemans Bay, Auckland, was redeveloped to address weather-tightness, roll growth, ground condition and dilapidation issues. The redevelopment design was finalised and consented in later 2015. The re-modelled school now has four new buildings and associated landscaping, including:
The project was split into six distinct stages and physical works commenced in early 2016 and were completed in 2018 followed by the school field and bike track being re-instated, the upgrade of grounds and gardens, and the hard courts.
Octa managed the project from inception following the approval of the master plan by the MOE.
This project has pushed the boundaries of design while fully incorporating both the MOE’s and the School’s innovative learning environments focus.
In June 2019 the School won the PCNZ Gib Education Property Award for “Best in Category”.
