Māori TV, New Zealand’s indigenous broadcaster, established itself in Newmarket back in 2004 and developed organically over 12 years. After an extensive search, a new office facility was identified in East Tamaki that was able to support Māori TV’s developing infrastructure and long-term future. The relocation occurred in August 2017, before the expiry of the Newmarket lease.
The office, production and studio staff and functions were relocated to a centralised office building, previously the Pumpkin Patch head office. The new premises were developed to provide an integrated office, production and broadcasting facility for the full Māori TV organisation. The fit-out included the extensive Development and fit-out of technical production, news and editing facilities. The installation of this took longer than the physical build.
Octa was engaged late 2016, managing all phases and working closely with Māori Television to ensure the successful completion and relocation, without any disruption to their service.
