Octa was engaged to manage the project from concept through to occupation by Waitākere City Council (WCC) and Unitec. This multi-phased project included the relocation of the WCC historical archives, integration of all systems and centralising city wide professional staff into a single location.
The Waitākere Central Library and Unitec facilities project was broken into four parts, spread over a 6987sqm site:
$8.5 million, 3 level 3565sqm central flagship library
$13.5 million 5 level 5500sqm teaching building
$7.5 million 7 level car park building with 308 parking spaces
$1.5 million external landscaping
Octa Associates managed the PCG to bring together the requirements of the different users. The contract was won through a rigorous tendering process and awarded in a very buoyant Auckland construction market, the contract was completed on time and on budget.
