Octa assisted the CHT to review their nine existing rest homes (including five hospital sites) and assess feasibility for modernisation. The strategic development programme rationalised the service provision and optimised conversion into individual or shared rooms with ensuites.
Octa worked closely with the client managing the implementation of this upgrade programme over a nine-year period on both brown and greenfield sites, with upgrades now complete to Royal Oak, Hillcrest, St Margaret’s, Lansdowne, Waiuku, Algies Bay, St Johns, Highfield and Peacehaven.

These projects were all new builds involving staged demolition to facilitate continued operation of the facility.
These projects provided an opportunity to apply Octa’s expertise across multiple sites in a comprehensive strategic development programme for one client. Working closely with our consultant partners, Octa developed a standardised design concept that can be introduced whatever the site conditions. This gives CHT surety to design outcomes and cost.
