Octa project managed the design, construction, installation and commissioning of a speciality dryer and packing facility at the Tatua Co-op Dairy on behalf of Tetra Pak.
This was a fast track greenfield project: contract awarded 14 February 2014, first earth turned on 14 June, and production commencing in May 2015. The project was delivered on time and within budget, exceeding customer’s expectations.
The commissioning phase of this project was very successful and allowed the client access to international markets 18 months ahead of schedule.
The dryer installed was the first of its kind in the world and required detailed engineering to provide the flexibility in production required by the client.
Tatua is continually developing new products and need this facility to cope with future innovations.
The plant has successfully produced over 50 different products, most of them high value nutritional additives.
