Christchurch Tower 3 project was to provide five additional wards to Christchurch hospital. Thus creating 160 inpatient beds, for the ageing population. For Tower 3, seismic strengthening and resilience to withstand earthquakes and provide health services immediately post-disaster are an integral part of the design. The facility and services are also planned to enable a response to future pandemic, including increased airflow and separation of wards. The 16,000sqm building is set to open in 2025.
