Octa provided full project management services from master planning through to implementation, close out and soft fit-out management on this redevelopment and merger project.
Seismic strengthening and significant modernisation was required to develop the existing Strathmore Community School site as part of the Miramar South /Strathmore Community Schools Merger. The redevelopment included a new Administration and Library Building, relocated and redeveloped School Hall, the modernisation of seven classrooms to create flexible, shared learning and breakout spaces that support the Ministry of Education property objectives, along with site and infrastructure upgrades.
With just 12 months from appointment to completion date, Octa needed to provide ‘creative’ programming to incorporate fast tracked design consultation and master planning processes along with multiple contracts, early contractor procurement and multi-staged consents.
The Master Plan combined Modern Learning Environments and Environmentally Sustainable elements within existing buildings whilst retaining heritage values to the community. In keeping with the heritage concept, the original Miramar South School Building “Broadway” was relocated to the Strathmore site and restored to create the new School Hall which also supported the theme of two schools merging.
