Epsom Girls’ Grammar

Octa was engaged in 2008 to develop a property master plan and 10 Year Property Plan for Epsom Girls' which identified the first priority for the School was a new sports centre.

Octa managed the construction of the sports centre for EGGS to centralise their sports facilities. Works included the relocation of existing prefabs in the proposed gym location and the phased construction of a single gym sports centre with offices, classrooms, weights room, dance studio and changing facilities.  Environmentally sustainable design methods were incorporated into this project, along with MOE guidelines.

The gymnasium was designed to blend with the heritage of the school, using a red brick façade on the Manukau Rd side to tie in with other school buildings.  Wide spans of glasson the north facade reduce lighting needs during the day and provide natural ventilation.  The floor is a Junkers sprung floor with court sizing and heights suitable for national sports events.

Octa also managed the funds for this project, a mix of MOE and EGGS funding, and applied for additional funding from the MOE where possible.
