Octa provided a fulltime on-site Project Manager for this project to ensure that the accommodation and site facilities at Nelson Hospital were provided at optimal cost and appropriate for the efficient, safe, effective (in terms of both cost and outcome) and sustainable delivery of services well into the next century.
The project involved the retrofit/refurbishment of the existing George Manson and Percy Brunette buildings and the addition of new buildings for Medical, Obstetrics and Paediatrics Inpatients, Emergency, Radiology, AT&R, ICU/CCU, Kitchen, Mortuary and Stores.
Design of the new and refurbished hospital was carried out by a team comprising an Australian Health Planner in association with a New Zealand Architectural practice, together with local Structural and Services Engineers.
