Octa project managed the Cream Cheese 2 Expansion Project at Fonterra’s Te Rapa site. The business case objectives included increasing productivity and plant availability, adding 5kg packing capability, without changing existing labour requirements. A design process was completed with the following work fronts:

Construction of a new building to house the new and existing pasteuriser. Plus, a new dedicated hygiene facility

A new pasteuriser and curd cooker capable of the same throughput as the existing plant

Relocation of the existing pasteuriser, curd cooker and homogeniser

Extension of the packer room to accommodate the new packers, sealer, weight checker and conveyors

Installation of two new fermentation tanks through the existing wall plug

Addition of new valves and reconfiguration of existing pipe

Bolting the new plant onto existing services and CIP lines.
