Octa’s role was providing Project Management Services including detailed programming, monitoring and reporting, cost control and facilitating value management and engineering workshops.
The project consisted of the construction of a new 10 metre dive pool, leisure pool and a regulatory upgrade of the Moana Pool complex.
The programme was complex requiring the progressive handover of the various pools as they were completed. In effect the construction work had to be programmed to enable the continual use of the complex.
The design team included two specialist designers from Canada. Vic Davies Architecture specialised in the leisure pool design with Keen Engineering on the pool mechanical systems.
The design of the pools was an addition to the existing complex and therefore had to be integrated both in the design and the pool mechanical systems. Careful programming was therefore required to minimise the impact on the pool operation.
