Wellington City Council – Granville Flats Demolition Project – Land Returned to Mana Whenua

  • Wellington City Council has officially returned the Granville flats land in Berhampore to the Wellington Tenths Trust at a ceremony on Monday this week.

 

  • Wellington City Mayor Andrew Little officially returned the land back to Tenths Trust Chairman Anaru Smiler at a ceremony at the site attended by around 100 delegates from Council and Tenths. 

 

  • The Granville Flats complex previously housed 144 tenants across 107 units in 3 tower blocks. The buildings were carefully dismantled and the land prepared for re-use.

 

  • Octa were engaged in 2022 by Wellington City Council to manage this complex demolition project, eventually completing ahead of time and within budget.

 

  • Rex Ji and Will Lamb attended the ceremony with stakeholders, council members attending.
