The opening marked a significant milestone for healthcare in the Taranaki region, with the official opening of the New East Wing Building (NEWB)/Te Rau Matapuna o Taranaki at Taranaki Base Hospital. The six storey, 22,000m2 facility was formally opened by Associate Minister of Health, Matt Doocey.
The NEWB represents a major investment in the future of healthcare in Taranaki, providing modern, purpose-built facilities designed to enhance patient care and support healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality services and includes a roof-top helipad.
The completion of the East Wing is an important step forward for Taranaki Hospital, ensuring it remains well-equipped to serve its community both now and into the future.
