After 15 years in the making, Christchurch finally has the keys to its brand new One New Zealand Stadium

The journey began after the 2010–11 earthquakes severely damaged the historic Lancaster Park. By 2012, a new multi‑purpose stadium was proposed as part of the city’s central‑city recovery — and today, that vision becomes reality.
After years of debate, redesigns, and community discussion (including a push for a smaller venue), the city locked in a 30,000‑seat stadium in 2021, expandable to 36,000 for major concerts.
