Octa

New Zealand Police is constructing a new police station on the site of the existing police station located at 205 Railway Road, Hastings. 

The proposed new building will be three levels of approximately 2700 square metres, with a structural steel frame and concrete floor construction on a concrete foundation system (raft foundations).  The project also includes an annex extension, car parking and associated landscaping once the existing station is demolished.

Octa has been engaged by New Zealand Police to provide full project management services from design through to post construction. Octa has also prepared the business case as part of the wider Hawkes Bay Police property review. The business case was approved by the Commissioner of Police in 2015.

The local geology and the NZBC have required substantial ground remediation to be undertaken along with incorporating a state of the art seismic dampening system as part of the structural frame.

The project is currently in construction, commencing in February 2018, with completion due late 2019.
