Cream Cheese Expansion Project

Octa project managed the Cream Cheese 2 Expansion Project at Fonterra’s Te Rapa site. The business case objectives included increasing productivity and plant availability, adding 5kg packing capability, without changing existing labour requirements.  A design process was completed with the following work fronts:

  • Construction of a new building to house the new and existing pasteuriser. Plus, new dedicated hygiene facility
  • A new pasteuriser and curd cooker capable of the same throughput as the existing plant
  • Relocation of the existing pasteuriser, curd cooker and homogeniser
  • Extension of the packer room to accommodate the new packers, sealer, weight checker and conveyors
  • Installation of two new fermentation tanks through the existing wall plug
  • Addition of new valves and reconfiguration of existing pipe
  • Bolting the new plant onto existing services and CIP lines.
